For a long time, people have asked us to make this song available. It was written by William Garvey, who sadly passed away in 2009. Back then, Mikel wrote about his brief exchange with our band. You can read it HERE.
On the right-hand side of this page, you can download our cover of “Goodbye Horses” for free by joining our mailing list. If you’re already on our list, just click on the link below the signup form.
We’ll continue to offer exclusive content through our newsletter, i.e. new videos, unreleased B-sides, covers, acoustic performances, etc. It’s our way of thanking you for being a part of our world, and for letting us be a part of yours.

Good morning,
This week’s installment of our Bombastic acoustic video series is a performance of our song, “It Doesn’t Mean a Thing,” featuring a cat. We originally planned to have something like 30 cats in the video, all playing with yarn and toys, but as it turns out, cats don’t like loud guitars and drums. Like, at all. In the end, one stayed, and the rest got the hell out of there.. It was quite the scene.
Noah learned the banjo for this one, and this is Anna’s first official performance with a xylophone.
Watch “It Doesn’t Mean a Thing” HERE.

Good morning,
We’re proud to announce the world premiere of our music videos for “Changing”and “Numb,” from our upcoming album “All at Once,” due out April 26th in North America and April 25th in Europe.
Both videos were directed by Jon Danovic, who also directed our documentary DVD All I Ever Wanted: Live from Walt Disney Concert Hall.
The video for “Changing” features special guests and jaw-dropping dance crew the Strikers All-Stars.
Depending on which country you’re in, you may not be able to view one of the videos due to the international policies for these websites. It’s a temporary thing, and we’ll keep working to make sure they get released everywhere soon..

Good morning,
Los Angeles, you’re a sight for sore eyes. Enough with the Woody Allen jokes. Home is home, this isn’t Hollywood and God Damn did we miss you.
After 20 shows in six countries in February, including three different residencies in three different countries — endless cheese, bread, rain, nights spent sleeping on some moribund tour bus — we’re ready for some sunlight and some home-made pico de gallo. Me escuchas?
Berlin, Paris, Amsterdam, Antwerp, Münster, Hamburg, London, Munich, Cologne, Frankfurt, and Zurich—we had a good time. We thank you for the whiskey, the moshing, and the general mayhem. Proper job. You know who you are.

THE BOMBASTIC SERIES – “ALL I EVER WANTED”:
For Week 3 of our “Bombastic” acoustic video series, we performed “All I Ever Wanted” with our good friends the Calder Quartet at the Colburn School Conservatory of Music in Downtown Los Angeles.

Good morning,
Back in 2008, after we finished recording our first album at a friend’s house and before we left home for two years, we filmed one-take acoustic versions of all the songs on the record—each one in a different locale around Los Angeles. The L.A. River. The Colburn School of Music. Griffith Park. Noah’s car.
We didn’t really know what to expect, except that we wanted to show the songs in different contexts. In the process, we stripped down the music in some places, expanded it in others, and learned that Daren can drive a boat while holding down a beat.
THE BOMBASTIC:
Thanks for all your comments and emails about the videos. In advance of the release of our new album All at Once on April 26th, we’re excited to announce The Bombastic, a new series of one-take acoustic performances of all eleven songs from the upcoming record. Starting today, we’ll be releasing one a week until the album comes out. There will be special musical guests. And one cat.
You can watch the first Bombastic video for our title track “All at Once” above, or by clicking HERE.
It features the Calder Quartet, the Lalo Guerrero School of Music Children’s Choir, and music students from the Plaza de la Raza Community Center in East Los Angeles.
We’ll release another one next week..
ORIGINS TOUR – LONDON, L.A., AND NEW YORK:
We’d also like to announce that beginning April 18th in London, we will be turning to our roots, playing a series of five shows in three cities, re-visiting the clubs we played coming up on our first record—chronologically, starting with the smallest. The three cities will be: London, L.A., and New York. Yes, that means we’ll be playing Dublin Castle, Pianos, and Spaceland (a.k.a. Satellite). We used to practically have lockers there, so we will be returning to the clubhouse, as it were.
The fifth show will be a secret show for the first 50 fans who purchase tickets for the other four. To clarify…

Good morning,
From the windswept streets of Paris, we’re winding down the first week of our European tour here in the birthplace of bikinis, photography, and Serge Gainsbourg. Yes, we’re far away from home, and no, it’s not something you necessarily get used to, but it’s nice to feel that we could be at home here, in Berlin, Antwerp, and Münster, sitting in cafes, eating schnitzel, drinking beer… It’s one way to live.
Thank you to all those who came to the shows and to those we met afterwards, on whom we practiced our makeshift Flemish and Movie-of-the-Week German.
Amsterdam, we’ll see you on Monday at Paradiso…
Our new single, “Changing, is out NOW, and you can get it HERE.

If you buy it during the first week of release (up until Tuesday, February 8th), you can also get the new studio version of “This Losing” (which won’t be included on our upcoming album, All at Once). All you have to do is email us the receipt and we will send you the mp3. Think of it as a B side—you know, the way they used to do things..
For those of you in Europe, we’ll be releasing a different single, and offering the same “This Losing” bonus track if you buy in the first week. More on that (including a release date) soon.
EUROPEAN TOUR DATES:
Three residencies:
Mondays in Amsterdam
Tuesdays in Berlin
Fridays in Paris
The shows in Amsterdam and Berlin will be at the same venue each week (Paradiso and White Trash, respectively), while the Paris venues will change each week.
On Wednesdays and Thursdays, we’ll play shows in other cities and countries.
One of these performances will be at HMV’s NEXT BIG THING Music Festival at Heaven in London on February 10th. Details below..

Guten tag, Hallo, Prost!
The view from the bus is that of green fields and windmills, the occasional farmhouse dotting the landscape as we drive to Berlin. Halfway across the world, our first single from our second record comes out today. It’s oddly important and dreamlike. Simultaneously present in our minds and light years away.
And it’s one of those moments where you’ve spent all this time making something, and then you get to finally show it to other people. It’s one of the things we love about making music—the shared experience, everyone in a room together, dancing, sweating.. For now, here’s our new song. Finally, available on iTunes.
You can get “Changing” HERE.

For this first week only, if you purchase “Changing” on iTunes, you can also get the new studio version of our song “This Losing” (which will not be on All at Once) for free. Simply email us the receipt to airbornemerch@gmail.com and we will send you the mp3. We think of it as a classic, old-school B side to the A side single.
(For now, the single will only be available in North America. We’ll have a different one coming out in the U.K. in a bit. It’s confusing, we know, but we’ll have more info on that soon..)
“Changing” is the first U.S. single off our new album All at Once which will be released on April 26th. The song probably has some thematic ties to the record as a whole, but the truth is the song is just a f–king jam. Stand in a room with a guitar and your amp up loud and wail. You know what we mean.
We’ll see you in that room somewhere soon.
Tonight and the rest of the month:
Meanwhile, we’ve just arrived here in Berlin strapped to this rocket ship called tour. European tour, to be exact. We were last here about a year and a half ago, playing one of our favorite shows from our 2009 tour. The rest of the month we’ll be back and forth between Berlin, Amsterdam, Paris. Also, Antwerp, Münster, Hamburg, London, Munich, Cologne,...

Good morning,
Let’s not pretend this isn’t a big moment. That would be kind of stupid. Deep breath. Eyes closed. OK. Here goes.
It’s been 4 years. Nearly 400 shows. Close to 400,000 miles traveled. 50 songs written for this record. Many of them were played first for many of you.
Including:
Our new song “Changing” will be available on February 1st. You will probably be able to hear it online first. Probably on our YouTube channel. Probably right HERE.

The song was originally called “Something You Own.” It’s a song about conflict and resolution, resisting and accepting Change. But lets not spend too much time dancing about architecture… Better just to listen and let it become part of the day..
Our second record will be titled All at Once. It will be released on April 25th in Europe and April 26th in North America.
It’s probably both quieter and louder than our first record. There wasn’t any particular decision to be either like or unlike our first record. In some ways, it is the former; in others, the latter. It’s called “All at Once” because the songs deal with the idea of sudden change—how life generally doesn’t change incrementally. Your parents die, a child is born, the airplane shakes, a former love from a former life walks casually by you on the street, and suddenly everything is different. We live in the quiet passages between these extraordinary moments of change. It’s exhilarating. It’s terrifying. It can be monstrously disfiguring. It can be potentially redemptive.
So much of it has to do with loneliness. There’s something about sharing these things that make them less terrifying. That’s why this has to do with you and what you’ve given us in the past four years. Because there’s a moment of recognition that happens where you see yourself. You see your thoughts in others and feel a kinship, as if the idea isn’t some horrible thing locked in your head, but one of many ideas that are part of a grand narrative that all people share. And there’s a true joy to seeing the reality of it this way—like...

Good morning,
And happy 2011. After dusting off the last bits of 2010 from our hair, we’re looking forward to a massive new year. We’re emerging from the cave. Everything looks different in the light. We blink. We stretch. Plans abound. We can only tell you about some of these plans but then this all still feels like a myth anyway so let’s just say we’ll meet you at a show someday and tell you what we were thinking.
The new record is almost done. Thank you for all the emails.
A Song Every Day
Starting Monday, our Twitter feed @Airborne_Toxic (are we saying that right? “Twit-ter?” is it a soft “W?”) will include a Song of the Day every day for the next year. Mikel will be posting these along with thoughts on them, lyrics from them, or occasionally, just vague phrases like “classic” or “this must be what it feels like to tour Spain or drive through Nebraska with a shotgun in your lap.”
There will also be links. You can follow. You can comment. You can listen to music and join in the revelry. Starting Monday, January 10th. Twitter Twhitter Twwitter.

Playing with a Huge Plucking Symphony…
A SPECIAL CONCERT WITH THE COLORADO SYMPHONY JAN 22:
In a few weeks, we’ll be joined by the Colorado Symphony Orchestra for a collaborative performance at Boettcher Concert Hall in Denver. Last year, we went down to Kentucky to perform with the Louisville Orchestra and learned, among other things, that orchestras can rock hard. We expect the Colorado Symphony to be no exception. We’ll be playing songs from both our first record and the upcoming album. See you there.

Good morning,
We’re excited to announce our largest European tour ever, running through the entire month of February. It’s been far too long since we’ve toured the Continent, so beginning the first of the month, we’ll be playing simultaneous European residencies in Amsterdam, Berlin, and Paris, along with several other shows in places like London, Antwerp, Zurich, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich, and Cologne (Köln). Some of these cities, we’ll be visiting for the first time. Others, for the fourth or fifth time (we’re talking to you, Cologne). The last show of the tour will be in Amsterdam on February 28th. As for now, we’re putting the finishing touches on our new album, buffing and waxing, etc. See you in a few..

For those of you who are unfamiliar with residencies, this means that we’ll be returning to the same place once a week on the same day of the week for the month of February. To clarify:
Every Monday, we’ll play in Amsterdam.
Every Tuesday, we’ll play in Berlin.
And every Friday, we’ll play in Paris.
The shows in Amsterdam and Berlin will be at the same venue each week (Paradiso and White Trash, respectively), while the Paris venues will change each week.
On Wednesdays and Thursdays, we’ll play shows in various other cities.
One of these performances will be at HMV’s NEXT BIG THING Music Festival at Heaven in London on February 10th. Details below..
