I know that there's already a thread for the Bombtastic series, but I figured since there are so many versions of AIEW, we might as well give it it's own topic.

To those who have yet to see it, here's the youtube link for the Bombtastic AIEW.

    So, thoughts, reactions, comments?

Honestly, I teared up when I watched this. It's weird how profoundly music can affect you.

Anyway, quite a few changes from the Disney Concert Hall version. I'm not sure which I like more and when All At Once comes out, I suppose I'll have to reconsider once again.

I like the chorus to the concert hall version better. There are a few lines in this version that make the song more universal but they took out the my favorite line that said, "I could tell that I'm always gonna love you like the virgin bride you were that night". Damn! That line is so good...such a slap in the face!

The concert hall version is the better one for me, might be just because I'm more used to it but in the bombastic video you can't hear Anna singing, not sure if thats just a equipment error.

Agree with both LAIDinUSA and Rick... I prefer the live version, because of the lyrics mainly, but also because you can't hear anna, and it all sounds a bit more... dull. Less emotional if you ask me.

These Bombastic videos are a one take deal so I'm sure Anna's mic was a technical issue

Hearing them both together it's clear that the bombastic one is much faster than the disney hall one, the change of venue will have had an affect on the acoustics too, seems generally a softer sound in the concert hall. But on both versions I love the sound of the combination of all the string instrutments.

On the commentary for the Disney show didnt Mikel or Steven say that the record version the song has synths instead of strings on it or did I imagine that from somewhere?
I adore this song but I cant imagine it without the actual stringed instruments

I got goossebumps the first time I watchted it / listened to it. Great song, really.
It's fast, powerful, uncompromising. They started a song they couldn't stop.

The Disney version is as great, for me it's just the different locations.

And after listening to this song as opener at the show with the same power it's great to hear it again this way.

After listening to the Bombatastic version more, I've decided that, while the Disney Concert Hall recording is more powerful and moving, I love these songs nearly equally. I've come to see them as two separate songs rather than two versions of the same song.

Let's just hope I feel the same when I hear the studio version.

At this point, I still like the Walt Disney Concert Hall version much, much better. All my favorite lines are gone now. :(

The second verse, where it used to say "And I'd be lying if I said that I didn't find it exciting/Your eyes so wet, your face so warm and inviting" is one of my favorites from the whole song. And the "Love is defying" after the virgin bride part. Even the "I turn over again and feel my heart beat faster/I stare out the window and I think I might scream"

But, it'll probably grow on me. I just keep thinking about singing along at the shows and wanting to sing the old lyrics!

Oh, and the whole not being able to hear Anna singing thing, I don't think it's a technical issue, if I recall correctly in the video she doesn't even have a mike. Looks like Mikel is the only one who does, so that would explain why we can't hear her.

Yeah, I kind of agree with christinalynne1227. I loved those lyrics too..
But at the same time, we do have Concert Hall version, and it kind of makes sense that the album version would need to be a bit different to be included.
And we don't know what that'll be like yet! I think they almost need to be considered as two different songs.

I just hated on tate in the changing thread and i'm about to do it again (although not as much). I thought the Disney Hall version was much better. they have slowly been taking a lot of the heaviness and despair out of the song, i remember when it ended "we're slowly dying" and all the lyric changes are disappointing, as everyone has said. i also think the accelerated melody hasnt helped the song either. I do like it and look forward to hearing the electric version but i fear it will never live up to what it once was.

I don't recall hearing this, but I might cry if this is the case. The strings are the primary reason that I love the song. I doubt they'd take them away...
