Interesting perception. I can't imagine every time he plays deep emotional lyrics he feels them as for the first time.
It can get really real when you write the lyrics yourself. It just might be that way for him.
I think the smile (which is one of the nicest smiles ever) is an indication of the fact he thinks it's amazing, weird and funny that all those people are there to listen to HIS songs! Must be an incredible feeling.
Just the irony that he's not a total fuck-up? Yeah, I can see that.
Agree with every comment here. Fleshed out my thoughts and gave some to learn from. Should have phrased it differently, perhaps.
Haven't been this struck by a band since I first heard Joshua Tree.
And I saw Joshua Tree at Day on the Green at a formative age, and many many rock and blues acts since...
I haven't seen ANY show as rockin as theirs. 2 years ago they played Seattle to what seemed like 50-100 people...this past June they were crowd surfing to a packed house of at least a 1,000.
Big or small, they didn't change. It's a beautiful thing.
Nice post Finerider
Whether you'd say beautiful or fucking perfect, yeah they're still awesome after their sophomore album.
