So I'm James from the Lone Star State, (for those from Europe I see that's Texas). Right now I'm your typical broke college student that has nothing better to than avoid essays for as long as possible by hiding out at concerts and music festivals. Let's see the first time I saw TATE was at Lolla a while back and then at ACL last year. I've always been a fan of their work and yeah...that pretty much sums it up.

Serena here! I first heard TATE over the intercom in Barnes & Noble. I'm totally addicted to them now. I went to their concert at 6th & I and it was awesome! And I think Mikel is really cute.

Well hello fellow Airborne fans, Sheridan here and up until the London gig at the weekend (3/10/2010) I assumed I was one of the oldest Airborne fans but happily I can confirm there were people there much older than me, phew!
First saw TATE at Leeds Festival 2009, just decided to go over to the tent and watch after hearing Gasoline & Sometime Around Midnight and loved them. Haven't had chance to see them up until October 2010 and saw them in London (Union Chapel) and Cardiff the following day, what a weekend! Also managed to catch Mikel after the London gig and bumped into Mikel and Noah whilst trying to find the venue in Cardiff. After the Cardiff gig Daren also came into the pub we were comparing gigs at, despite him saying "nobody ever recognises the drummer", we did! :o)

Hey I'm whitney. 4 months ago, I would have told anyone on this earth that I had met my soul mate. He was everything that I wanted in a man and everything to me. This August he chose to end our 3 1/2 engagement by cheating on me and purposing to a second girl. I turned to writing and music for help. I had been to Lollapalooza last summer and heard of TATE, but until recently I had only heard 1 song. On a strange tangent, I started looking up TATE songs. And these albums have become my crutch. The music is so beautiful and the lyrics resonate with my heart. I love the perfect blend of different sounds this band is able to achieve. I really just want to say thank you to them for sharing their talents with the world. These guys are amazing, and their music can help heal broken hearts. Hope they can make it back to Chicago.

I'm from Michigan but currently attending a University in Ohio. Two months ago, I heard Sometime Around Midnight on Columbus' alternative station. I immediately looked up TATE on YouTube and instantly fell in love. A few days later I went out and bought the album. For a month straight I listened to nothing else. I still choose to listen to them over almost everything else I own most of time. I love the music itself, the lyrics are phenomenal, and I now consider them my favorite band. I would absolutely love to see them in concert. I only wish I had discovered them earlier. But better late than never. ;]

My name's Nick and I firmly believe Airborne Toxic is the greatest band writing music today. I discovered them the summer of 2008 (I think. Maybe spring.) when "Sometime Around Midnight" first started receiving radio time on Seattle's 107.7 The End. I fell in love with it instantly and went out to buy their entire album soon after.

I don't have any real story of how I got into the band, but man they've developed me as a person more than any other music I've ever experienced in my life. My now ex-girlfriend and I broke up a month-and-a-half ago and I remember driving in the car, screaming my lungs out to "SAM" and "Innocence," while crying through the heartbreakingly personal lyrics of "Duet" and "Letter to Georgia". And while actually listening to the songs typically just made me feel worse, it was always only temporary. As soon as I finished playing through the entirety of "All I Ever Wanted," I would always come out of it feeling a little bit better than when I went in.

Mikel said something at the last show of theirs I attended, which was on September 18th of this year, a couple weeks before my girlfriend and I broke up. He very optimistically said something along the lines of "I don't know why people love our songs; they're all really fuckin' sad." And at that moment, I realized he was right and I didn't really have an answer, but now I think I do.

Airborne Toxic, your music let me truly vent my emotions when I had no one else to turn to that could understand what I was going through. Your songs have provided me with not only something catchy that I love to dance and sing along to, but a source of relief and comfort in a time when I needed it most. So for that, I thank you, and eagerly await the arrival of your next record. From what I've heard thus far, it's going to be incredible. See you next time you're in Seattle!

I'm Alex, 40yrs old from Germany, living in the near of Nuremberg in the south of Germany.

I first listened to TATE at the local radio station in 2009, and I was totally amazed by the first time. Went to the record store next day, listened the other songs and since then it's the best record fo the last 5 years or so.

This album only was topped by the DVD all i ever wanted.

Picking the music I like from every genre, my all time favs are Bruce Springsteen since 1988 and Deine Lakaien, a german gothic/wave band, since 1992. Most of my music is gothic, but I love good voices, or better special voices. Some kind of melancholic voice and music.
So I listen to the national, snow patrol, but also to the cure, sisters of mercy or acts like Josh Groban and even to greece traditionals :-P

After about 2 years listening to TATE the have their place in my personal top five, for sure. So I#m really excited and can't wait to see them in munich in february 2011.

I really like attending live shows, so I hope they are as good as I've heared.

Lovely reading through new members' posts - glad people are still joining :-)

Nick - you won't be disappointed when you see the band live - you really won't.

and Shez - you aren't one of the oldest TATE fans, I can more or less promise you that :-)

Ah yes, maybe it's time for me to type a little story here too. It's a real shame these forums seem a bit dead. Not completely dead, but less alive than they should be.

So, I'm Alfred, 18 years old from the Netherlands(so don't expect 100% perfect English). First heard TATE when my ex told me to listen to Sometime Around Midnight. Of course I loved it, listened to it on repeat for days non-stop, then decided to look up the whole album and discovered almost every song was nearly as epic as Sometime Around Midnight. It's one of the few albums I actually own, along with two singles(Happiness is overrated and sometime around midnight) I got off of ebay for nearly free. They have a little shelve of their own :) All I ever Wanted is by far my favorite album of this year, even though I'm usually not a big fan of the live CD's. It's just brilliant. I'm going to see em live for the first time in February, when they finally come to Holland. Can't wait :D

Other music I like: Rammstein, Rise Against, Volbeat, The Killers, White Rabbits, Eminem(yeah, very broad taste). http://www.last.fm/user/Fantje92

Hi Alfred, Nick, Alex, and all the other new members! If enough you have enough to say, we can make this a fun place to hang out and talk about our favorite band!

Alfred, your English seems fine! And yes--another Killers fan, too! Shez, I'm one of the older fans, too, that's something I really love about the band, everyone can get into them! :)

    Welcome all! :)

Hello, I'm Kari from Portland, Oregon. First saw TATE on MTV? VH1? I can't remember because, of course, it was in the early morning hours - the only time they play music videos anymore. But anyway, I immediately fell in love with the Sometime Around Midnight song & video (Majordomo version).

It had so much emotion and it told a story. I kept waiting for a chorus, but the song just kept building and then it was over and I was like, whoa. So powerful and unique. Then to find out the story was true and all the other songs on the album came from personal experiences and such tragedy, I was hooked. They are truely talented artists and passionate about the music they create. I admire that very much.

Oh, and a few things about myself: I am 35, married, stay-at-home mom. Mostly I am a really big dork but I enjoy knitting, calligraphy, listening to music, watching paranormal research shows (i.e. Ghost Hunters), and researching my ancestry. I am currently learning French, am obsessed with anything and everything British (which is apparently called Anglophilia?), and I am going to see TATE for the first time in Denver on the 22nd! Woohoo!!! Anyone else?

Welcome to the forum Nigel, Union Chapel was the best gig I saw last year (and I saw quite a few!) and quite possibly the best gig I've seen, full stop.
Not heard TATE on 6music as yet tho, I was on the breakfast show a few months back (the "My Morning Racket" feature) and asked for a TATE song but the lad hadn't heard of them, can you imagine?! lol
In the end they played "Getting boring by the sea" by Blood Red Shoes so not all bad!

Hi! I'm Amy and I live in Denver (and yes I'll be attending the Denver concert this Saturday)! I discovered TATE last year after downloading "Sometime Around Midnight" from the KEXP Seattle podcast on iTunes. I casually pressed play and was completely swept away. I tried to remember the last time I'd heard something so beautiful, so moving. Ever since then I've been utterly captivated by their music! I got their album immediately and have been a fan ever since. Their music puts my emotions into words when I need it to; I've turned to it more than once. When I heard about the Denver show I knew it was a must that I get tickets especially since I'm only about a half hour away. TATE is talented and original, and their lyrics inspire me in my own poetry. I love writing, reading, running, fashion, and (of course) music.

Hey. Joseph Jimenez from Sunnyvale, Cali. 18, mexipino. I absolutely love The Airborne Toxic Event. They are one of the few bands out there with which you can listen to every single song on their album and not hit next because you don't like that song. Or at least in my opinion. My friend showed me "Sometime Around Midnight" and i was hooked. I downloaded the rest of their album and just fell in love with the music, the band, I even did a paper in school about Mikel Jollett. Their music is heartwarming and brings me so much pleasure just to listen to that when I listen to one song I either have to listen to the same song again to get more effect or listen to the next song on their album. I really hope that they stay together as a band as long as possible because too many good bands split over stupid shit and we really need great bands to continue creating the masterpieces that they have been for as long as they can :)

    Afternoon all.

Thought I'd finally get round to signing up on here, I'm Kev, live in Brighton in the UK but originally from the north. I'm work for myself as a freelance webdesigner and can usually be found heading up to London at any given chance.
Thought I'd best sign up here as i've been listening to the band since I first heard I Don't Wanna Be On Tv on the NCIS soundtrack when it first came out a few years back and had the pleasure of seeing them at Cafe De Paris for the first time last year when they played the opening night of the Raindance film festival.
Roll on tomorrow night for the London show. WOO and indeed one stonkingly large HOO!!

Figured I'd bump this thread. No one really goes down to the bottom where the actual forums are and this one got pushed off the page. Since there have been a bunch of new people posting lately, I wanted them to have the opportunity to introduce themselves.

    Knock yourselves out! :):)

I haven't read through everyone's posts in here quite yet, but when I saw it got bumped up I figured I should probably introduce myself. I'm Emily. Formerly of San Diego California, formerly of Montana, currently of Colorado. I'm going to school down here. :)

I'm a major TATE addict. I've been a big fan for about a year or so, was originally introduced to them by the love of my life and just haven't stopped listening since! I saw TATE along with the Colorado Symphony in January and it was quite honestly one of the best experiences of my life.

Oh hey. I'm Katie. I'm from Atlanta, but I'm currently residing in Memphis for college. I've been a big TATE fan since the summer of 2009. It's a pretty rare experience when every single one of a band's song can captivate me. The first song I heard was Gasoline, which reminded me so much of a fleeting summer romance. To this day I still listen to the song and think about that one guy. Later I heard Sometime Around Midnight and, well, I'm basically a sucker for strings so I was hooked.

Anyways, my obsession rekindled after their new single came out. I've basically had every single song they own on repeat for the past week. It's probably driving my roommate crazy, but I quite frankly don't care. I just bought tickets for their show in Atlanta my brother and me and am counting down the days. Can't wait.

    Why hello there :)
I'm Z, turning 16 soon, from ny. I was in FYE one day buying some CDs. It was buy 2 get one free, and i couldn't find a 3rd one....so i closed my eyes and pointed to a random cd. It turned out to be the TATE album.

    It was fate.

I've always been one of those people that can't seem to pick a 'favorite' band...but TATE is a lot of notches above the rest :P Even after hearing the album constantly on repeat all of freshman year, i'm still not tired of a single song.

Reading these posts make me feel OLD! Im Paul, 31, from Manchester, England. one of my mates made me listen to sometime around midnight after splitting up with the longest term girlfriend. The first album was the soundtrack, every lyric almost as if my own?! A couple of gigs later, putting mikel off time in happiness is over rated, in the ritz, manchester even getting a mention for being the rowdy ones...
ha ha.. an accousic evening with.... in the deaf institute entangled me and tate forever. That was the beginning.... in total 11 Gigs in 4 countries. My lil european tour this year was ace, after the hangover wore off, i realised i was gig idiot, for all the shows i attended. drunken screaming lyrics in munster, heaven in london went ok thinking back, the support act threw me a beer and after the gig mikel jumped down and handed me the set list, must of done something right?!! paradiso amsterdam, was a different story.. i had an ace time, Coffee shops and Bars turned me into the alter ego of if I drink tonight, I'll get you off my mind... The poor couple i bumped into who were apparently stood next to me and my gang of idiots in the afore mentioned manchester ritz gig?!?! small world! from what i remember... Oh Dear (i apologise if your listening to you and the band)

Ill try and be behave in Manchester on the 5th, Leeds on the 8th and the 5 london gigs...
    X

Hi, I'm Michaela, I'm 16, and I kind of feel like I'm at an Al Anon meeting right now. I first heard The Airborne Toxic Event via the NCIS record. Now, usually I'm the type of person who has favorite songs, not favorite artists, but TATE is the exception. I have not heard a single song by them that did not completely captivate me. I went to their show at Boettcher Hall where they played with the Colorado Symphony. I'm also going to both Chicago shows in May (I live in Minnesota).

The very first time I heard TATE was I saw their muic video for Sometime Around Midnight and but I didn't see who the name of the band was but I fell in love with the song, so it took me a few weeks to find out who it was that made the song. I have never seen them live but I would absolutely love to see them!

Hey, Tania Peyton here from Berlin, Germany. Just discovered the band right before they started the residencies here so I practically run into them by coincidence. Saw the first show at White Trash with a friend, bought tix for the rest of the shows the other day and convinced 4 friends to follow me.
Listen to indie rock/alternative and like Brandon Flowers and the Killers. Also a great fan of 30STM, years before they got commercial success.
Going to see TATE in NYC and London again and I am every day deeply impressed how brilliant lyrics and music are...

Glad to see you all out here. I‘m Courtney and thanks to my best friend Sheri, I've been lurking and skulking about these pages since January 2009, hesitant to jump in to a forum that would only encourage my already crazy admiration for this band ;). At the ripe old age of 33 I thought I had put the obsessive band-loving thing in my youthful past, but here I am now at 35 still rapt and joyous about this music, this band,- wanting to shout from the rooftops “Check this out! This music touches the heart, the mind, the soul…and still makes you want to dance!” Not to mention that Mikel, Anna, Daren, Noah and Steven are the nicest folks you’ll ever meet.

So, like any good stalker…er, I mean ardent fan, I have been religiously trying to share- talking to anyone who will pretend to listen, playing bits of the cds for coworkers, posting Youtube videos to Facebook, transcribing lyrics for family members so they can take in the loveliness of Mikel’s lyrics and most recently trying to switch the radio station at work so people will have to hear “Changing“.

I’ve only been allowed the privilege of seeing Airborne a mere 4 times, but how can that be helped when they won’t come to Colorado more often? June will see Sheri and I at our 5th and 6th shows (Denver and San Diego). Summer can‘t come too soon!
