    it looks like this year's Sunset Junction Street Fair may be cancelled!
    http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/music_blog/2011/08/sunset-junction-permits-denied-event-canceled.html

    for those of you who aren't familiar with this event (or didn't bother reading the article) here is all you need to know:

    Sunset Junction is an annual street fair/music festival that takes place in the Silverlake district of Los Angeles. yes, that's right - TATE's backyard. it is a more community-based event which gets most of its sponsorship from local businesses. ticket prices have been steadily increasing over the last few years (at one point it was even free!) but even with the price increase Sunset Junction has not been able to recoup its losses from the past two years.

    Update: the Sunset Junction organization is trying to raise $90,000 by this Wednesday. i guess the show must go on...

    Yeah, I heard this news earlier today and was thinking, "Wow, do they have to refund all those ticket sales and what about all the artists that were supposed to get paid and all the vendors who were expecting to have all those sales all weekend..."

    Oh wow, this is really unfortunate. I love music festivals like this. This sounds similar to Seattle's Capitol Hill Block Party to me and I pretty much live for that thing. These always just have such an amazing atmosphere.

    it's official! Sunset Junction is cancelled. they announced it today and the website crashed due to heavy traffic flow. i guess people didn't believe it and wanted to read it for themselves directly from the source. it's not like it hasn't been mentioned in most L.A. newspapers or anything...

    damn...there's goes my chance to see Hanson.

    ;_;
