Who's going?
Who's going?
Me! Me! Me! Me! I got my tickets last Friday. Are you going Pete?
Awesome. Yes Kelley, I'll be going as well :)
I wasn't planning on going because I didn't want to pay so much for such a large venue but now I've decided I should go. I didn't know it was going to be a multi-stage festival. This should be fun!
Anyone going to the "free" ($6) Weezer show this Saturday? It's at the Del Mar Racetrack...yup, the same Del Mar Racetrack that Airborne is going to play at on Friday the 26th . If any LA/OC people want to carpool to either show PM me.
I'm going! I'll either take my best friend or my oldest daughter. Whoever kisses up the most in the next couple months gets the nod! My husband is out of the running... he has made too many jokes about my cooking lately.
EVOL, am I right in my understanding that the festival setting will be outside the Gibson? Food trucks, vendors, a couple of stages, right? And then later in the evening (7pm, I think) TATE goes on inside the Gibson with a secret opener?
@stormy, lol, I like how you think. We'll definitely have to meet up. Most of us LA/OC fans have met each other now, but I don't think I've seen you at any shows.
I've been there, Christina! I'm the quiet one rocking out in the back. It would be fun to meet you! I will be at the Gibson, hopefully early. Maybe we can meet up there.
i believe the event at the Gibson begins around 3PM. there will be food and merch vendors and probably promo booths giving away some swag. i think this will be one of the few shows were i actually show up early so i can enjoy all the festivities. i am not sure if there will be side stages set up outside or if the support bands will play the main stage. i don't know anything about a "secret" opening band, but what i did hear is that Calder will be there. it's too early to know all the details just yet.
some info for those of you who are planning on going to see Airborne at Del Mar:
i went to Del Mar yesterday to see Weezer (yes, they rocked!) and the stage setup is different from last year. in previous years the stage was erected at one end of the infield which made it a pain to get to and from the stage. this year the stage is in a fenced off parking lot. the flat lot fits more people, makes it easier to get to the stage area, and WAY easier to get out (they just open side gates which lead into the parking lots). parking is stiil a mess so it takes about a half hour just to drive out of the parking lot!
Is it easy to meet the band at Del Mar?
That will probably depend on how many people show up and the mood of the band. Can't really say for sure.
