Damn. I love all of these. Why can't the album just be 5 songs longer?

Because they want us to suffer.

I can understand some of those not being on the new album because they were on the DVD but NO TOKYO RADIO??

Very disappointed. Watching those live youtube videos made me so excited for that song.

And why do albums only seem to be 10 or 11 tracks nowadays? What's wrong with a longer album or more songs?

And I wonder did they ever make a studio recording of Echo Park? I liked that one.
I prefer albums with a few more songs.. at least the first record had 13 songs in Europe. But there'll always be some songs that don't make it I guess..
    Maybe we'll get a rarities/B-sides album in a couple years :)

Those songs will most likely appear on international or "deluxe" releases as bonus tracks. I'm fine with shorter (10 or 11) song album but I hate that so many albums are released as a regular and a deluxe (or exclusive iTunes pre-order version). There are two main reasons albums are shorter: 1) so they can press them on vinyl, and 2) putting "b-sides" on albums makes them weaker overall and the audience tends to tune out. Think about how many other CDs you own where you've felt like there were only a handful of good songs and there rest were just filler.

How long did it take for the deluxe version for the first album to come out?

the first record (with the 3 extra songs) was released in the UK in February 2009.. there was never a "normal" edition here.

LAID, I agree that generally I'd rather 10 excellent tracks and no fillers, but with this band, I just want as many songs as I can get my hands on! It also depends on the length of the songs. I have some records that have 13 or 14 songs but are still under 45 minutes long, and some with 10 songs that are over 60 minutes.

LoL! I expect a few of these for an iTunes deluxe edition like some others have said. That's how I got a lot from the first album's. Anything deluxe I shall buy for Airborne Toxic.

Yeah, LAID pretty much summed it up. Plus they could do what they did with "This Losing" and just give it away as a promo. They used the songs on tour so much, it seems logical they have a studio recording somewhere. Like most things, they will eventually see the light of day.

Oh, I see what they did, Joefish, they changed the title. And the lyrics. And the music. Damn sneaky of them. Probably trying to avoid a copyright battle with themselves.

It doesn't mean a thing that these are not the days of wine and poses. But seriously, I was hoping "Echo Park" would be on the album.

Thank you, Roclawzi! I had no idea how to respond to that so I just waited for somebody else to and I'm glad I did, made me laugh.

And I have a feeling Echo Park is just kind of too special for an album, like Map to Heaven.

Echo Park is awesome but the bass sounds wayyy too familiar to the Something New bassline while the violin and guitar sounds too much like the part in Does This Mean You're Moving On before he goes IM SORRYYYYY I REALLY LOST MY HEADDD

brianmoon10- Um, he doesn't say "I'm sorry, I really lost my head" in Does This Mean You're Moving On?. That line is from Happiness is Overrated. And I like Echo Park, regardless.

Roclawzi- Oh my gosh, you made me laugh so hard. That was just awesome.
