In Costa Mesa, we’ll be playing our first-ever Southern California orchestra show with Orange County’s own Pacific Symphony as part of its Wavelength Festival of Music at the Pacific Amphitheatre on Friday, August 23rd. Joining us to open the concert will be a band we’ve loved for a while: Delta Spirit. Please do yourself a favor and watch the video for their song “California.” Makes us miss our misspent youths..
Also, on Thursday, August 1st, we’ll be playing a show in Tempe, AZ at the Marquee Theater.

After two dizzying years of touring, writing, and recording since our last album, and something like 800 shows since we played our very first in L.A.’s Echo Park, we’re incredibly excited and proud to be releasing our third studio album: Such Hot Blood. It means so much to us, and so do you. Thank you.

On June 18th, we’ll be playing a special summer evening concert in New York’s Central Park as part of its celebrated SummerStage series. If you haven’t been, it’s a gorgeous outdoor space right off the 5th Avenue and 72nd Street entrance to the park. Oh, and the show’s completely free.
We’ll be joined by our good friends and frequent collaborators the Calder Quartet—as well as a special guest orchestra… Seriously, we can’t wait.

Almost two years ago to the day, we released our second album. Since then it’s been a blistering rush from city to city (and the occasional field)—everything swallowed in a gargantuan wash of lights, sounds, and people. You never can tell what it’ll be like until you’re in it, and when you are it’s hard to describe. Anyway, we love it. And somewhere in there, we wrote and recorded our third album, Such Hot Blood. We love that, too. It’s coming out on April 30th. We honestly can’t wait for you to hear it.

We’re excited to announce a string of brand-new dates in June—in Jacksonville, Cleveland, Louisville, Indianapolis, Providence, and Albany.
Also, due to our April 30th release date, we’ve had to shift our travel plans around that time, and as a result, we’re rescheduling our May 1st and 2nd shows in St. Petersburg and Orlando to June 8th and 9th (respectively). The same tickets will work for the new dates. We apologize for any inconvenience, and you can of course refund your tickets at your point of purchase if you can’t make the new dates. Tomorrow, we commence our first official tour for the new album, beginning with two sold-out shows in San Diego. It’s times like these that we like to take a moment to sleep in beds and eat with actual silverware before these things become distant memories.. Denver and Boulder are also sold out, with Seattle, Boston, Portland, Vancouver, and D.C. going soon, so get your tickets soon. You can find all our dates with links HERE. We’re very excited to announce that our good friends from L.A. Nightmare Air will be supporting us on our pre-Coachella dates (with Kodaline to open post-Coachella). They make beautiful, haunting music, while actually melting faces.. So we hope you can come early to check them out. Here’s their video for “Escape.”

Also tonight, we’ll be performing on the Late Show with David Letterman at 11:35/10:35c. We ran into Paul and the boys in the hallway earlier. As usual, they were awesome.
For each album release, it’s become sort of a tradition for us to record live, one-take acoustic videos as alternate versions of the songs on the record. Yes, there’s something to with deconstructing these meticulously recorded songs to hear them laid bare, but really it’s just fun to hear people play music in a room—or a moving car, or a boat, or a church. Or a bus.. Anyway, it’s an ongoing series we’ve been calling the “Bombastic.”
