Greetings from London,
When we arrived here yesterday, we were exhausted, relieved, and then ecstatic to be back in the U.K., in that order. Despite the jet lag, we rushed out onto the streets and stumbled around in a daze, trying to remember where our favorite things were, to varying degrees of success. A couple years ago, we played our “30 shows in 30 days” tour here, in towns which—when we talk about now—have made the average Londoner scratch his or her head in bewilderment. Aldershot? Cornwall? Fife? Really? Yep. We drank in some very strange pubs, ate more kebabs than we probably should have, got beaten down by weather, and then we returned several more times. So yes, coming back here to the U.K. feels, strangely, like coming home.

Good morning,
D.C., Boston, Philly, New York, Toronto, Chicago. It’s been a bit of a blur, but the good kind, where you can’t wait to see what happens next, and there’s a string section accompanying you.. We’ve been wandering into cities with our friends and cohorts the Calder Quartet, and setting up our instruments inside some unique, historical sites: a synagogue, a church, a former vaudeville theatre, an old suffragist meeting hall.. We’re still reeling from the experience and currently hurtling across the country, back to the West Coast. Seattle, San Francisco, L.A., we’ll see you in a few.

Good morning,
It’s a Tuesday morning in Washington D.C. and the tour bus is rumbling with the sounds of string players stirring softly in their sleep. For this tour, we have brought with us the Calder Quartet: world-class players, performers, former Juilliard artists-in-residents. They are accustomed to slightly more formal digs and this is their first time on a crowded tour bus. The smell of string resin and priceless wood commingles with that of stale beer. Ah, tour.
We are the pirates, the cowboys, the lonesome spacemen of our time — dreamily contemplating the view of earth from a rocket-ship bound for the sun.

TONIGHT, is the first show of this special acoustic “we’re-doing-this-because-we-can” tour. We’ll be playing some new songs as well as some old, as well as some very old. We’ll be playing a synagogue (tonight), churches, town centers, small hilly amphitheaters surrounded by coyotes and scrub-pine, the errant swell of viola notes wafting in the air. We look forward to seeing you, we look forward to meeting you, we look forward to adding you to this dizzy mess of spacemen and cowboys, virtuosos and pirates.
TONIGHT, we play the Sixth and I Historic Synagogue starting at 8:00 p.m..
Next: Boston (Somerville), then: Philadelphia (Glenside), New York, Toronto, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. After that: London, Edinburgh, Manchester and Cardiff.
